VIOLA - Edward John Hand, Sr. of Viola, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013. He was a skilled carpenter who built over 1,000 houses. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, crabbing, fishing, and gardening. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Katherine Hand; his parents, Smith and Idella Hand; brothers, Roy and Smith; and sisters, Idella, Mary, and Elaine; and stepsons, Cliff, Bobby, and Donnie. He is survived by his son, John Hand, Jr. of Magnolia; daughters, Sandy McIntyre and husband Robert of Fenwick Island, Nancy Rains of Wyoming, and Debbie Edge and husband Len of Smyrna; stepson, Howard Hand of Dover; step-daughters, Shirley Weathersbee and husband Bill of Cary, N.C., Doris Walton of Dover, Beverly Thorpe of Millsboro, and Bonnie Basenight and husband Johnnie of Virginia Beach, Va. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kirk, Chris, Danielle, Heather, John III, Nicki, Kourtney, Lindsee, Ethan, Summer, Colby, Amanda, Logan, Jackson, Olivia, Stacey, Kelly, Jodie, June, Barbara, Wayne, Joshua, Tammy, Lisa, Jan, and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Shelby, Ashley, Dean and Jake; his brother, Willis and wife Nellie of Dover; sisters, Viella Floyd and husband Jim of Kentucky, Eleanor Jones and husband Dale of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jennie and husband Glen of Townsend. A Celebration of his life will be 1 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Lebanon Wesleyan Church at 1138 Sorghum Mill Road in Dover. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Seasons Hospice in Milford, Del.
