VIOLA - Edward J. Deusa of Viola died Friday, May 11, 2007, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 59.
Mr. Deusa was born in Dover, son of Alexander J. Deusa of Dover and the late Helen Lorraine (Swofford) Deusa Nickerson.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He served two tours in Vietnam and was stationed in Da Nang Province. He received numerous medals and ribbons, including a Purple Heart and the Medal of Valor.
Mr. Deusa was the store manager for Cook"s Tire Center of Harrington for the past 15 years. He also worked part-time as a cobbler for Lou"s Bootery of Milford.
In his spare time, he did carpentry - building homes, additions, restoration and roofing. He also enjoyed working in his yard, and gardening. He had a vast garden large enough to feed the whole family and community, and grew just about everything. He had a good sense of humor, and enjoyed teasing and harassing friends, family and employees.
Mr. Deusa belonged to the American Legion CKRT Post 7 of Harrington and Milford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6483, and was a Judge Advocate for the Marine Corps League.
He is survived by his father, Alexander J. Deusa of Dover; his wife of 35 years, Mona Deusa of Viola; two sons, Edward Robert Deusa of Viola and Thomas Alexander Deusa of Miami Shores, Fla.; three brothers, Kenneth Deusa and Alexander Deusa Jr., both of Laurel, and Michael Wayne Deusa of Greeley, Colo.; and six sisters, Linda Favre Mills of Camden, Wanda Long of Felton, Suzanne Collison of Houston, Joyce Hill and Peggy Nearhas, both of Dover, and Tish Arillo of Magnolia.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. Du Pont Highway, Harrington.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The Rev. Ken Deusa of Laurel Wesleyan Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, Millsboro.
