MILLSBORO - Edward J. Baker Jr., of Millsboro, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, in the home of his daughter, Theresa Reihms of Clayton. He was 78. Mr. Baker was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Philadelphia Pa., the son of the late Edward J. Baker Sr. and Florence Taylor Baker. He worked for the State of Delaware in the maintenance department of the Stockley Center in Millsboro. He had also worked as a machinist for Electric Hose and Rubber and as a security guard in Pots Nets. Mr. Baker served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Oak Orchard/Riverdale Post 28, and the AmVets Post 2 in Millsboro. His hobbies included boating, fishing, crabbing and having coffee with his friends in the corner store in Millsboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Jane Baker. In addition to his daughter Theresa, he is survived by two more daughters, Barbara Munson of Smyrna and Linda Bacon and her husband Harry of Wilmington; a son, Robert Horton and his wife Cindy of Milford; a very special lady and his guardian angel, Ms. Edie Strickler of Millsboro; his very close friend, Mr. Jim McCreavy also of Millsboro; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call two hours prior to the services. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19901. Condolence may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com
