DOVER - Edward D. Bailey passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Cadia Rehabilitation center at Broadmeadow in Middletown, Del. from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Edward Bailey was born Feb. 25, 1929 in Clayton, Del., and was the last child of John and Nora Bailey of Clayton. He was the proprietor of his own award winning Texaco station on Rt. 13 in Dover; he also worked for Goodyear Tire and Service in Dover and retired from Carl King Oil Company in Camden, Del. After retirement Edward and his wife spent many winters at their place in Bradenton, Fla. Edward was a regular member of Peoples Church in Dover. He enjoyed working around the house and loved cutting grass. He was a serious hockey fan and loved spending time with his family. Edward was the youngest of 14 children, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Alice Bailey; his 13 brothers and sisters; and his parents. He is survived by his three sons, Donald Bailey of Erial, N.J., Robert Bailey and his wife Donna of Forest Hill, Md., and Brian Bailey of Dover; and five grandchildren, David Bailey, Stephen Bailey, Shannon Bailey, Brent Bailey and Blair Bailey. Friends may call at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, DE., where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Christian burial will follow the service at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to The Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter.
