DOVER - Edward C. Swangler, III died peacefully at home on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, after a long battle with heart disease. He was born in Beach Haven (LBI) New Jersey to his late father Edward C. Swangler, Junior and his late mother Elizabeth (Betty) Cranmer.
He is survived by his brother Martin (New Jersey) and preceded in death by his brother Charles (South Carolina), and sister Ellen (New Jersey). He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of 64 plus years, eldest daughter April Reiss & husband Stephan Reiss, now retired in Florida, son John Swangler (Las Vegas), and youngest daughter Heather Swangler (Delaware); four grandchildren, Matthew Reiss & wife Christina, Danielle Reiss, Miranda Swangler and Edwina Swangler; and two great grandchildren, Alicia Reiss and Layla Swangler.
His eldest son Eddie (New Jersey) and daughter Edwina (Pennsylvania) preceded him in death. Edward is a Korean War Veteran, and served in the United States Air Force as Staff Sergeant. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Cross Catholic church where he enjoyed being an usher. He retired from O.M. Scotts & Sons, Inc. where he thrived in Sales as Territory Manager for over 30 years and received the Man of the Year Award (MOTE) year after year. His passion has always been dancing with his wife, spending time and talking with family and friends, walking daily no matter the weather, travelling to Europe and everything English. He loved the beach, swimming, fishing and golf. A special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice for their caring and support at this time. They certainly went above and beyond!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 12 p.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover. Arrangements by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc. Dover. Condolences can be made via www.ambruso.com
