Edward C. Allen Sr., 81

SMYRNA - Edward C. Allen Sr., of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday March 10, 2009, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. He was 81. Mr. Allen was born March 12, 1927, in Elkton, Md., the son of the late William E. and Margaret McNatt Allen. He worked as a laundry supervisor for the State of Delaware at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna for several years before retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemond Beal Allen; and a daughter, Tina M. Arrington. Mr. Allen is survived by two sons, Edward C. Allen Jr. with whom he lived for the last 15 years and his wife Cindi, and Timothy H. Allen and his wife Beth of Clarksville; three daughters, Karen L. Steele and her husband Earl of Smyrna, Kathleen Domino and her husband Frank of Camden, and Jennifer Reed and her husband Robert of Townsend; three brothers, William H. Allen and his wife Roberta of North East, Md., Arnold Allen and his wife Doris of Wilmington, and Richard J. Allen of Elkton; two sisters, Ruth C. Beal of Wilmington, and Mary Elizabeth Allen of Elkton; 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday March 13,in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery, Townsend.
