DOVER - Edward A. Garrett, Jr. "Reds" of Dover, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 at Capitol Nursing Home in Dover, on Scott Wing, where he received tender, loving care for 2 ½ years. He was 83. Edward was born April 27, 1927 in Dover, to the late Edward Garrett Sr. and Reba Sapp Garrett. Mr. Garrett was employed at General Motors in Newport, Del. for over 30 years. After retirement, he served home-bound meals for Modern Maturity Center for eight years. He loved to garden, especially growing strawberries and turnips and he enjoyed riding motorcycles. Mr. Garrett was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church in Dover for 37 years. He spent many years of his retirement winters in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, the former Anna Johnson; two sisters, Effie Carlisle and Reba Hardin. Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dorothy Moore Garrett; and five nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Services will be held 12 Noon, Tuesday Dec. 21, 2010 at the Trinity Wesleyan Church, 1564 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901, where the Rev. John Davis will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. Flowers are welcome or contributions be made to Trinity Wesleyan Church, 1564 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
