DOVER - Edna Pelletier Martin passed away on May 10, 2017, at the age of 101 and 5 months. She had been residing at her daughter Lynn Appel's home in Dover, for the past 15 years.
Edna was born in Franklin, N.H., the daughter of Eugene and Ovina Pelletier but graduated from Keene High School and lived most of her life in Keene, N.H. She married Donald Martin of Keene in 1944, after he came home from the war. They were married for almost 60 years when he passed away in 2004. Edna was a wonderful homemaker and mother who was an excellent seamstress and a wonderful baker who could also do upholstery, crewel, wallpapering, stenciling. She had served as vice regent for the Catholic Daughters and had been a parishioner of St. Bernard's church in Keene until she and Don moved to Walpole in 1987. They both loved to play golf and were members at various times of both Hooper Golf Club in Walpole and Brentwood in Keene. Edna began working part time at the Keene City Assessor's office after her children started school. She began working full time when her oldest daughter started high school. She loved her job and was a very outgoing and energetic person all of her life. She had three sisters who also grew up and married in Keene and they were all extremely close, going on shopping trips to Boston together, spending time at Spofford Lake at her sister Bunny Adams' cottage, the four couples playing cards and enjoying time with the children, Debbi, Lynn and their cousin Wendy Dubois. Edna was full of energy, had a bit of a lead foot when she drove and even at her advanced age always moved as if she were late for something, going full steam ahead even with her walker!
She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Martin Appel of Dover, Deborah Martin Fuller of Langdon, N.H.; two granddaughters, Emily Appel of Clarksburg, Md., Jessey Appel of Greenville, S.C.; two great-granddaughters, Aubrey and Sophie Evans of Clarksburg, Md.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 9 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Keene, N.H. Following mass, she will be buried at St. Joseph Cemetery alongside her beloved husband, Donald. All are welcome.
