Camden/Wyoming - Dwight R. Brown passed away, Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 at Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Born Aug. 29, 1937 in Winfield, Kan. to the late George R. and Wilma (Kendrick) Brown.
Dwight attended Pittsburg State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kan. and Spartan School of Aeronautics, Tulsa, Okla. He joined the USAF in 1954. Among the aircrafts he worked and later flew on where the C-46, C-119, C-124, C-141A and the C-5A/B. Brownie received many awards and honors for his dedication to the military during his 35 years of service. He retired Chief Master Sargent in May of 1990 from the USAF and continued his service and an additional nine years with the FAA in Miami, Fla. retiring in Jan. 1998.
He enjoyed flying, boating, fishing, golf and time with his family. Dwight was a long time member of the Walter L. Fox Post #2, VFW Post 3238, Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge #203 and #315 Airlift Wing Alumni Association.
In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his brother, Dale, infant sister, Leona Louise and grandson, Alex Morgan.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Doris "Dee" Brown of Camden/Wyoming; daughter, Denise Cole (Aaron) of Arkansas City, Kan.; step-children, Robert Morgan of Leominster, Mass., John Morgan (Cindy) of Bear, Rosemary "Missy" Johansson (Jorgen) of Harrington; grandchildren, Daily Cole (Danielle), Michael Morgan, Reilly Morgan, Charles French, Jodey French, Jenni Mercklin (Jason), Christian Ciccaglione, Stephen Ciccaglione, Mason Ciccaglione, Nina Ciccaglione-Acevedo; niece, Janet Smith (Larry); and nephew, Larry Dale (Kimie).
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Bayheath Kent General Hospital and the Compassionate Palliative Care Group.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 12-2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Summerton United Methodist Church, PO Box 35, Summerton, SC 29148.
