Duane W. Van Bergen, 65

MILFORD - Duane W. Van Bergen of Milford passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. He was 65.

Mr. Van Bergen was born Dec. 21, 1940, in South Bend, Ind., son of the late William and Mona Van Bergen.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Van Bergen retired from the federal government after 35 years of service.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed deer and waterfowl hunting.

Mr. Van Bergen was a loving husband and a family man.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Mary L. Van Bergen; a son, Duane Van Bergen Jr. of Glen Burnie, Md.; a daughter, Carla Middleton of Annapolis, Md.; three grandchildren, Kyle Middleton, Ashley Middleton and Isabella Van Bergen; two sisters, Lorraine Kruszewski of Laurence, Mich., and June Weise of Memphis, Tenn.; and a brother, Mike Mahler.

Services with military honors will be 2 p.m. Monday in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Deacon Paul Woofter will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19901.
