Dr. George P. Laskaris, 91
SMYRNA - Dr. George P. Laskaris, of Smyrna, formerly of Wilmington, died peacefully Saturday, April 7, 2007 in Smyrna. He was 91.
Dr. Laskaris was born in Wilmington, son of the late Peter and Georgia Laskaris.
He graduated from Wilmington High School, the University of Pennsylvania, and Temple University Dental School.
Dr. Laskaris served as a Major in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Medical Unit.
He began a lucrative and rewarding dental practice in Richardson Park in 1946 and practiced for 52 years before retiring.
Dr. Laskaris belonged to Concord Country Club and loved playing golf with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Victoria (Lazinsky) Laskaris; a daughter and a son-in-law, Nicole and Jeffrey Ruckman of Smyrna; two grandchildren, Christopher Ruckman and Victoria Ruckman, both of Smyrna; two brothers, Edward Laskaris and Thomas Laskaris, both of Wilmington; a sister, Helen Danchulis, of Pittsburgh; and two sisters-in-law, Nettic R. Pelc of Chester, Pa. and Lyda Ruckman, of West Grove, Pa.
Services and burial were privately held in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Newark.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice Services, Stockton Bldg., Suite. 100, 261 Chapman Road, Newark, DE 19702.
