Dorothy Mary Spader

SMYRNA - Dorothy Mary Spader, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 2, 2012. Mrs. Spader was born May 28, 1920, in Germantown, Pa., the daughter of the late Willard and Rebecca Hammond. She was a homemaker whom enjoyed crafts, gardening, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Spader, Jr. She is survived by a sister, Edna Hammond of Barrington, N.J.; a son, Richard C. Spader and his wife Ann Marie of Smyrna; a daughter, Patricia D. Custodi of Clayton; eight grandchildren, Richard, Jr., Valerie, Susan, Robert, Patricia, Donald, Michelle, and Gino; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 9 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna, DE. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
