Dorothy Maree Cook Eierman

TOWNSEND - Dorothy Maree Cook Eierman passed away at the home of her son, on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017.
She was a farmer's daughter, wife, and mother.
Dorothy was born on Feb. 18, 1925, the daughter of the late J. Hermann and Florence Carey Cook, of Blackiston Crossroads.
She was born near Cheswold and started school at the Downs Chapel one-room school. After the family moved to Blackiston Crossroads, she attended Clayton Elementary and John Bassett Moore High School, graduating in 1943. Dorothy manned a WWII air craft spotting station, near Blackiston Church, in 1943. During school she worked at Handloffs 5 & 10 Store, in Smyrna. After graduation, she moved to Claymont, and worked at General Chemical. She would travel home by the passenger train on Friday night, to work on the family farm and return to Claymont on Sunday night.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William H. Eierman.
Dorothy is survived by three sons, Carl H. Eierman (Sherry), of Clayton, Paul E. Eierman (Pam), of Smyrna, and David W. Eierman (Vicki), of Glen Burnie, Md.; a daughter, Caroline M. Baxter (Tom), of Hartly; a brother, John H. Cook, Jr. "Bo", of Blackiston Crossroads; a sister, June C. Warrington, of Dover; a brother-in-law, Walter Eiermann (Jean), of Blackiston Crossroads; seven grandchildren, William "Billy" Eierman, of Middletown, Jodi Lynn Callahan (David), of Easton, Md., Ernest Eierman (Melissa), of Smyrna, Allen Eierman, of Smyrna, Matthew Eierman (Jennifer), of Essex, Md., Michele Eierman, of Baltimore, Md., and Katie Eierman, of Glen Burnie, Md.; three great-grandchildren, Carlee Marie Eierman, of Easton, Md., Payton Nicole Eierman, of Middletown, and Hoyt David Callahan, of Easton, Md.; and extended family, Kim Zinszer, Austin Zinszer and Madison Zinszer, of Middletown.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at Faries Funeral Home, located at 29 S. Main St., in Smyrna.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at 11 a.m., with a viewing at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
