Dorothy M. Spencer

DOVER - Dorothy M. Spencer passed away on March 30, 2015. Dorothy was born February 1, 1921 in Farrell, Pa., she was the oldest child of Andrew and Anna (Kutnak) Stefanick. Dorothy graduated from Farrell High School in 1938 and she moved to Washington, DC in 1942 to work at the Navy Dept. as a stenographer during WWII. She later worked as an administrative secretary for Safeway Stores in Landover, Md. and retired after 19 years in 1987. Dorothy moved to Dover in 1988. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers; her son, Robert Spencer of Dover; and her daughter, Janice Bird, also of Dover. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Mike) Shine of Hamilton, Mont.; her brother, Ron Stefanick of Hubbard Ohio; grandson, Christopher (Mindy) Spencer of Phoenix, Ariz.; granddaughter, Jennifer Spencer of Dover; grandsons, Brian Shine of Catonsville, Md. and Patrick (Meila) Shine of Jacksonville, Fla.; and her daughter-in-law, Karen MacMurray of Dover. Dorothy is also survived by two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. At Dorothy's request the burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
