SEAFORD - Dorothy M. "Dot" Ellis, 88, of Seaford, and formerly of Kirkwood, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Seaford Center. Born on June 1, 1921, in Centerville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Virginia (Pleasanton) Warren. She married Joseph H. Ellis, Sr. on June 13, 1939 and together they raised two sons. Dot, as she was affectionately known by many, was a homemaker. Spring was her favorite season of the year, as it gave her great pleasure to watch two of her grandsons play ball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Ellis, Sr. and two sons, Winfred Bush and Joseph H. Ellis Jr. She is survived by her daughter-in-law with whom she lived, Jane C. Ellis; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3, in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where family and friends may visit from 1-2 p.m. Interment will be in adjoining cemetery. Arrangements by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.
