Dorothy 'Dottie' Lanaras, 80

CAMDEN - Dorothy "Dottie" Lanaras of Camden, formerly of Dover, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at her daughter's home surrounded by her family. She was 80.

Dottie was born Dec. 9, 1926, in Jersey City, N.J., to the late Robert Newsbaum and Dorothy Hoffman Newsbaum.

Dottie retired in 1987 from the Woolworth Co. in Dover, where she worked as a personnel manager.

She loved to bake and created delicious, imaginative cakes which were often raffled off at the Harrington Moose Lodge, where she spent time with her dear friend Ed Wright.

Dottie was loved by all whose lives she touched and will be remembered fondly by many.

She was a sweet and loving woman whose life revolved around her family.

There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lanaras in 1987; and her sister, Catherine Wasniewski.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Newsbaum; three daughters, Mary Lou Berry and her husband George of Saddlebrook, N.J., Jayne Newman and her husband Steve of Santa Maria, Calif. and Barbara Lucas and her husband Joe of Camden, whose home she spent her last several years in their very loving care; six grandchildren, Brian Berry, Jennifer Forrest, Gina Tavarez, Cody Newman, Corey Lucas and Ryan Lucas; and five great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Mackenzie, Adrianna, Megan and Jessica.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901; or Camden Ambulance Corp., P.O. Box 186, Camden, DE 19934.

Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
