Dorothy I. Swain

LINCOLN – Dorothy I. Swain passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018. She was born in Harrington on March 18, 1932 to John and Frances (Short) Rifenburg.
Dorothy was a homemaker and worked at Little Lincoln Speedway, enjoyed camping, hunting and was a huge NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt. She also loved a good yard sale.
She was preceded by her husband, Palmer E. Swain in 1983; daughter, Peggy; and son, Palmer, Jr.
Dorothy is survived by two children, Gary Swain and his wife Cindy, and Elaine Rifenburg, all of Lincoln; two sisters, Margarite Minner of Dover, and Joanne Hayes of Milford; three grandchildren, Jennifer Webb, Erica Melvin and Amy Swain and her fiancé Charles Morton, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Swain and his fiancée, Cheyenne Marney, Michael Melvin, Jr., Brook Webb and Robbie Melvin; and two great-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Wyatt Marney.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at 1 p.m., with a time of visitation beginning at 12 p.m. Interment will be private.
