PITTSBORO, N.C. - Dorothy Gauzza of Pittsboro died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at the Pittsboro Christian Village. She was 95.
Born in Bantry, N.D., Mrs. Gauzza was the daughter of the late William Harold and Mary Estelle (Duffy) Weir.
For many years, she lived in White Plains, N.Y., where she was a housekeeper and a nurse aid.
Mrs. Gauzza moved to Pittsboro in 2002, where she enjoyed her senior citizens group and her Bible studies.
She is survived by one daughter, June V. Cooper of West End; one son, Charles J. Gauzza of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Arthur Weir, Robert Weir, Donald Weir, Alan Weir, Raymond Weir and William Harold Weir; and three sisters, Clara Pine, Betty Williams and Lil Standard.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home, 12 S. Second St., Denton, Md., where friends may call one hour before the service.
Interment will be in the Denton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Pittsboro Christian Village Building Fund, 1825 East St., Pittsboro, NC 27312.
