Dorothy Esther Porter, 94
GREENSBORO, Md. - Dorothy Esther Porter, of Greensboro, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, in University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore. She was 94.
She was born July 20, 1913, in Ridgely, to the late Harry and Mary Elizabeth Smith Roe.
Mrs. Porter was a lifetime resident of the Greensboro area.
She was a homemaker and helped her husband, Raymond Hursey Porter, on their family farm. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1992.
Mrs. Porter was also a substitute bus driver for 28 years.
She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, serving on the Church Auxiliary.
Mrs. Porter was also a member of the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Greensboro Town and Country Club.
She is survived by her three sons, P. Donald Porter Sr. of Goldsboro, R. Hursey Sr. and wife Nancy Porter of Tyaskin and Maurice E. Sr. and wife Barbara Porter of Greensboro; one sister, Louise Palandroni of Wilmington, Del.; nine grandchildren, Paul Jr., Maurice Jr., Mark, Mathew, Marilyn, Trey, Caroline, Felicia and Alexis; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be noon Friday in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro, where friends may call one hour prior.
Interment will be in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.
