Dorothy Elaine Andrews Sample, 78

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - Dorothy Elaine Andrews Sample, of Ellicott City, formerly of Frankford, Del., took flight to her heavenly home on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at the Holy Cross Rehabilitation Center, Burtonsville. She was 78.

The daughter of the late William and the late Matilda Andrews, Mrs. Sample received her early education in the Delaware school systems.

She was a member of the Layfayette Street, Macedonia Church in Baltimore, and she worked in the state of Maryland school system for many years as an educational aide.

Family members, especially her surviving siblings, cannot help but reflect on what a wonderful, kind, loving, compassionate, and energetic person that Dorothy was.

Mrs. Sample will always be remembered for her outstanding fashion sense.

Her hair was her crowning glory, which you knew to sweep over to one side, but you did not dare to offer her a full bang.

Mrs. Sample was a cruise expert. She enjoyed going on cruises and traveling in general, but when she went, she made sure that all of her family went as well.

However, more than anything in this world, she loved family.

Mrs. Sample's husband, twin daughters, grandchildren and siblings were her world, and she wanted everyone who came into contact with her to know of and to realize this love.

She leaves to cherish the fondest of memories the following, her husband, Cleveland C. Sample of Ellicott City; twin daughters, Jacqueline Sample-Wright and Janice Elaine Paige; her sons-in-law, Kinnard Dwayne Wright and Rodney William Paige; four grandsons, Kinnard Cleveland Wright, Johnathan Matthew Wright, Justin Cornelius Paige, and Ryan Rodney Paige; one brother, Joseph Andrews of Ellendale, Del.; three sisters, Charlotte Bagby of Philadelphia, Ruth Lewis of Baltimore, and Shirley Mackey of Millsboro, Del.; one brother-in-law, William Mackey of Millsboro; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John's 2nd Baptist Church, Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, where the Rev. Annie Custis will deliver the eulogy.

Friends may call Saturday from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the church. There will also be a final viewing after the eulogy.

Interment will be at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Garrison Forrest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forrest Road, Baltimore.

Floral deliveries will be accepted from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday.

Professional services by Deborah E. Harris-Nock Funeral Services, Greenwood, Del.
