Dorothy 'Lucille' Durham, 78

DOVER - Dorothy "Lucille" Durham, died peacefully Thursday, May 21, 2009, in Kent General Hospital. She was 78. Mrs. Durham was born Nov. 13, 1930 in Shallotte, N.C., to the late Richard Barton Holden and Sadie Rabon Holden. She worked at the Dover Cleaners for a number of years. Mrs. Durham enjoyed reading the bible, shopping and feeding stray cats. She was a member of the Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, in Cheswold. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norris E. Durham Sr., 1998; and her stepdaughter, Janet C. Kelly, 1989. She is survived by her brothers, Cluard E. and wife Rose Pittman of Dover, Ernest Pittman of Okeechobee Fla., Robert Holden and his wife Marie of Supply, N.C., and Lindberg Holden and his wife Nellene of Whiteville, N.C.; sisters, Joyce Robinson of Holden Beach, N.C., Dorotha Brown of Wilmington, N.C., and Beatrice Varnam of Varnamtown, N.C.; special niece, Lisa Durham of Dover, and her stepson, Norris Durham Jr.; and step-grandchildren, Duana and Joseph Kelly. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
