Dorothea 'Dot' Weyandt, 89
DOVER - Dorothea "Dot" Weyandt, passed away peacefully in her home, Monday, October 12, 2009, after a short illness. She was 89. Mrs. Weyandt was born in Little Creek, March 29, 1920, to the late John and Harriett (Hattie) Carson. She was a graduate from Dover High School in 1938. She attended and graduated from the Philadelphia Marinello School of Beauty Culture the next year. She returned to Dover and became a manager of a beauty salon. She married Francis R. Weyandt on July 24, 1943. In 1947, they started their family, a boy, Richard and girl, Lynn. They enjoyed boating and going to the beach with their family. They were members of Wesley Methodist Church. Dot and Francis started a truck leasing business in the 1960's. Dot worked up until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Weyandt; sisters, Pauline Hallett, Marian Patchell, Marguerite Huson, and Harriett Allen; and a brother, John Carson. She is survived by her son, Richard and wife Pam of Dover; daughter, Lynn Bergold of Dover; her grandchildren, Matthew Weyandt of Dover, Christopher and wife Jennifer Weyandt of Florida, and Ashley Bergold of Dover; great-granddaughter, Sterling; great-grandson, Vance of Florida; sister-in-law, Helen Turner of Laurel; many nieces and nephews; and two granddogs, Maggie, that was her daily companion until her illness, and Harry. A special thank you to her care givers and to Delaware Hospice for the kind and compassionate care shown to Mrs. Weyandt (mom-mom). A Graveside funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, at Lakeside Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent in memory of Dorothea Weyandt to Hospice Delaware, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901; or to charities of choice.
