MILTON - Doris M. Marcone passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 1, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Doris was born in Miami, Fla. to the late Albert and Mildred (Conner) Hunnicutt. She was a nurse for many years and loved her time at Beebe Healthcare and providing private duty nursing care to patients in their homes. Along with her husband Carmen, she owned and operated Carmen's Delicatessen in Lewes, Rehoboth, and Milford, as well as the Milford Café until retirement. After retirement she enjoyed working and spending time with Terry, her coworkers, and customers at the Lemon Tree Restaurant. Doris was also the Director of the Lower Delaware Women's Bowling Association for ten years.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen J. Marcone in 2016.
She is survived by her two daughters, Luanne Holland and husband, L.T. and Barbie McDaniel and husband, Park; five grandchildren, Kevin Flaherty and Catherine, Kelly Riley and Mike, Brittany Benton and Bruce, Cheryl Keffer and Jamie, and Bradley McDaniel; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Flaherty, Christina Flaherty, Emma Riley, Declan Riley, Drake Benton, Colt Benton and Henry Keffer. Doris also leaves behind her nieces, Marie, Patricia and Paula; several cousins and many friends from her bowling family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 12 noon in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, DE 19968, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton. The family is very grateful for the loving care and support that Delaware Hospice provided for Doris.
