DOVER - Funeral services for Doris (Cummings) Hutchinson will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018 at Capital Baptist Church, Dover, where friends may call from 11 a.m. before the service. Mrs. Hutchinson died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at Bayhealth Kent General. Mrs. Hutchinson was born June 16, 1933, in Tupper Lake, N.Y., one of two children born to Flossie Thomas and George W. Cummings.
She married Robert Hutchinson on May 21, 1960, in New York State and came to Dover with Mr. Hutchinson's employer, General Foods, in 1964. Over the course of her life she worked as a Shaklee consultant and secretary at Capital Baptist Church, where she was a member for many years. An active member of several congregations in Dover and Morristown, N.Y., Mrs. Hutchinson often led others in song with her guitar. She was a self-taught musician who spread joy and spirit to all who had the opportunity to sing with her. Her family will remember her as a loving Christian woman who generously took care of everyone God put in her path, especially the elderly and the infirm.
Mrs. Hutchinson was preceded in death by her stepmother, Leola Cummings, of Morristown, NY; her sister, Bessie Lagrave, of Dover; a son, Gary; and her grandson, Robert Hutchinson, of Fort Pierce, Fla.
She is survived by her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Patty Hutchinson, of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Grace and Jason Gasperini, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Mia Hutchinson; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her dog, Sweetie.
Burial will follow the service in Sharon Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Letters of condolences can be sent to www.traderfh.com
