SEAFORD - Donna Fay Conaway, of Seaford departed this earth on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was born on April 20, 1939 in Seaford, the firstborn daughter of the late Charles E. and Beverly R. Hill. Upon graduation from Seaford High School in 1957, she went on to attend Goldey Beacom College. She married Andrew Conaway, Jr in June 1959 and remained a devoted wife for 55 years. Donna was a long standing member of St. John's UMC in Seaford. She joined the church in 1967 and taught Sunday school and assisted with the food pantry. In addition, her volunteerism included working with the Meals on Wheels program and for many years she decorated and donated trees to the Delaware Hospice Festival of Trees to support those suffering from terminal illnesses. She also was a Girl Scout Leader and still referred to "the girls" as "my Girl Scout" when seeing them around town. Her hobbies included bowling, ceramics, crocheting, and whatever craft project appeared interesting. She was a member of TOPS for decades and enjoyed creating the club banners for their SRD and IRD. She participated in card club. She looked forward to the Sussex Guide coming out each week so she could plan her yard sale route on Saturday. One of her favorite past times was travelling. From planning family vacations when her children were young, taking the grandchildren to Walt Disney World, or yearly trips to Florida, cross country to California, Alaska or the Northeast with husband Andy, she was always "ready to go". In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her son, Craig A. Conaway; a sister, Sandra Hill; and a brother, Barry Hill. She is survived by her husband, Andrew "Andy" Conaway, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and L. Allen Messick , all of Seaford; three grandchildren, Robert "Rob" Bagwell, III and Morgan Messick of Seaford and Jeremiah Conaway of Millsboro; daughter-in-law, Brenda Conaway of Millsboro. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the church of your choice or to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
