Donna Ann Snell, 75

MARYDEL - Donna Ann Snell, of Marydel, died suddenly Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Kent General Hospital. She was 73. Mrs. Snell was born Sept. 10, 1935, in Geneva, N.Y., to the late Stanley A. Allison and Irene Miller Allison. After working for Sylvania Electronics, the family moved to Dover with General Foods in 1964. Mrs. Snell drove school buses in the Capital School District for 16 years. Donna also worked on the staff of the Delaware House of Representatives from 1985-2003, including service as the Bill Clerk. Donna was a life-long volunteer and leader for many causes and organizations, including: the Kent County and State Republican Party, Girl Scouts, PTA, Towne Point Civic Association, Dover Educational Community and Child Care Center, the Harvest Years Senior Center, and the Junior Board of Kent General Hospital. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. Mrs. Snell is survived by her husband of 48 years, David James Snell of Marydel; her son, Jim Snell and his wife Aimee of Camden; her two daughters, Debbie Wilkins and her husband David of Wyoming, Laurie Sinde and her husband Rich of Camden; seven grandchildren, Derek Wilkins, Becky Coulson, Jessica and Michael Stramas, Erica and Justin Nichols, Brittany, Caroline and J.D Snell; three great-grandchildren, Idalis, Bryanna, and Nathan; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Modern Maturity Adult Daycare Center, 1121 Forrest Avenue, Dover, DE 19904; or Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
