Donald Rodney Evans III, 58

LEWES - Donald Rodney Evans III, of Lewes, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Elsmere. He was 58.

Mr. Evans was born Sept. 2, 1948, in Lewes, son of Donald R. Evans Jr. of Lewes and the late Grace (Carpenter) Evans.

He served four years in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Evans lived his entire life in the Lewes area and was a local waterman and contractor.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Mr. Evans was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7447 in Rehoboth Beach, American Legion Post 17 in Lewes, Elks Lodge, Del. 23, Lewes and the Moose Lodge, U.S. 9, Lewes.

He is survived by two sons, Donald Rodney Evans IV and Robert Nathaniel Evans, both of Lewes; his father, Donald R. Evans Jr.; a granddaughter, Natalie Nicole Evans of Lewes; his fiancée, Jean Dannreuther of Lewes; a sister, Valerie Anne Canaglia and her husband, Joseph; and two stepsisters, Suzanne Stenberg and her husband, Holger, and Jamie Russo and her husband, Mark.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Services will follow in the funeral home. Mike Cunningham will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to American Legion Post 17, American Legion Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
