Donald Milton Hitchens

HARBESON - Donald Milton Hitchens passed away on Jan. 13, 2014 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Donald was born in Georgetown, the son of the late Milton and Olive (Parker) Hitchens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1955 to 1959. He was a heavy equipment operator for Sussex Soil Conservation for 40 years retiring in 2001. He enjoyed stock car racing, fishing and show horses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard Pepper. He is survived by son, Michael Hitchens and wife, Teresa, of Laurel; sister, Sylvia Pepper and brother, Gerald Hitchens and wife, Phyllis, of Georgetown; Uncle, Alfred Parker and wife, Jean, of Georgetown; and two grandchildren, Dustin Hitchens and Melanie Hitchens. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday Jan. 17, 2014 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown, DE.
