Donald J. Starkey

SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - Donald J. Starkey died Jan. 9, 2019 in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Starkey was born on Feb. 5, 1938, son of the late Albert and Alva Graham Starkey. He was a lifetime resident of Sudlersville where he loved tending to his animals. For 23 years he worked for Washington College, retiring in 1995. On the side, he also did plumbing, heating and electrical work in the area.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Doris Ann Starkey; and four brothers, Ambrose, Charlie, Bill and Hots Starkey.
Mr. Starkey is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Betty Kimble Starkey; three daughters, Donna Usilton of Clayton, Mary Wood of Dover and Joan Pratt (David) of Barclay, Md.; an "adopted son", Gary Crossley (Linda); seven grandchildren, Dawn Piposzar, Kimberly Bennett (Tobie), Stephanie Bitter (Daniel), Pamela Pratt, Emily Bantom (Billy), Dustin Wood and David Pratt, Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Dylan Piposzar, Wade Bennett, Addison Pratt, Madison Bennett and Alexandria Bitter; and two nephews, Edward Starkey (Coralie) and Buck Starkey (Elayne).
A viewing will be held on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, Md. where funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at 1 p.m. Burial in Sudlersville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312
