Donald Edward Feyerabend

HARRINGTON - Donald Edward Feyerabend, 69, of Harrington, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Milford Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Feyerabend was born in Bridgeville, the son of the late Edward Norman and Golda (Short) Feyerabend. He worked in the body shop for many years at Townsend Brothers Chevrolet retiring on disability in 1978. He operated J&D Body Shop in Harrington for many years. He loved working on his pride and joy, his dream car, a 1966 Buick Riviera. Donald was well known for his auto body work and his careful attention to detail, especially his pinstripping. He also had a knack for building hot rods and dune buggys. He had an eye for antiques, especially anything that was cast iron and loved collecting lighthouses. He also loved listening to country music. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine (Bright) Feyerabend; four daughters, Cathy Gallo and her husband Stacy, of Andrewville, Angela Feyerabend and her fiance Kevin Birgensmith, of Milford, Kelly Wagamon and her husband Alan, of Milford and Christina Feyerabend and her fiance Jason Reich, of Milford; one son, Jake Feyerabend and his fiance Colleen McCann, of Harrington; eight grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha, Dylan, Brittany, Toby, Walker, Kyle and Jaylynn; one sister, Shirley A. Porter, of Ellendale; an aunt, Minnie O'Day, of Bridgeville; a cousin, Bonnie Smith, of Bridgeville; a special family friend, Edna Butler, of Harrington. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at the Lincoln United Methodist Church, 2nd and Butler St., Lincoln. Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery on Friday at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington, DE 19952 to help defray the funeral expenses. Arrangements by McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington.
