Donald E. Lucas Sr.

SHADYSIDE, Ohio - Donald E. Lucas, Sr. of Shadyside, Ohio, formerly of Dover, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va. He was 81. He was born April 2, 1933 in Sistersville, W.Va. to the late Frank and Mary Lucas. Donald retired as a Master Sergeant from the US Air force. He was very devoted to his country. His enjoyments included spending time with his family, watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and collecting coins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen; six sisters, Mary Jane, Dorothy, Ruth Ann, Jeanie, Ellen and Alice Marie; and six brothers, William, Dean, Frank, Robert, Michael and Jimmy Joe. He is survived by six children, Wilsa Coker of Shadyside, Ohio, Albert Lucas and his wife Connie of North Charleston, S.C., Donald Lucas, Jr. and his wife Kandy, Howard Lucas and Lisa and David Lucas, all of Dover and Helen Williams and her husband Tom of St. Clairesville, Ohio; two siblings, Frances and Nancy; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and over 100 nieces and nephews. A viewing will be 6 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 7:30 pm. Burial will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contribution to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Newark, DE 19713. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
