Donald A. Winans, 85
DOVER - Donald A. Winans, died April 6, 2009, in the Delaware Hospice Home in Milford. He was 85. Born in Belford, N.J., he was the son of the late Seymour and Marion (Knight) Winans. He was a graduate from Glassboro High School in 1940 and Glassboro State College in 1943. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 until 1946 and then joined Western Electric, working in New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts until retiring in 1983. Mr. Winans had also served with the Glassboro Fire Department for over 18 years and had moved to Dover in 1986. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years, Helen (nee Armstrong) of Dover; his children, Barbara Jo Winans and friend Joli of Olympia, Wash., Doris Ann Winans of Dover, Donald A. and spouse Annie Winans of Worcester, Mass., and Thomas A. and spouse Kate Winans of Conway, Mass.; one brother, Douglas K. Winans of Dover; and two grandchildren, Jake and Hannah Winans of Conway, Mass. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 212 N. Main St., Glassboro, N.J., where friends may call starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Contributions may be made in Mr. Winans memory to Christ Episcopal Church in Dover, or to St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Harrington. Arrangements are by Michael J.
