LEWES, Del. - Dolores C. Harper of Lewes, Del. formerly of Modesto, Calif. and Catonsville, Md. passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Cadia Renaissance Healthcare in Millsboro, Del.
She was born in Baltimore, Md. on February 23, 1932 daughter of the late Isaac Green and Ella (Haines) Green. Dolores worked on Capitol Hill as a secretary for General Poole and as an apartment manager for 15 years in Modesto, Calif. After moving to Delaware, she worked at the Cigarette Outlet in Rehoboth Beach for ten years prior to her retirement.
Dolores enjoyed cooking and making crafts. She also enjoyed playing Pokeno every Wednesday. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, John Harper in 2011.
She is survived by her son, Joseph N. Poist, Jr. and his wife, Cathey of Lewes, Del.; four grandchildren, Joseph Poist, III and his wife, Krissy of Arnold, Md., Chad Poist and his wife, Nichole of Pasadena, Md., John Poist and his wife, Emily of Pasadena, Md. and Amber Herr and her husband, Duane of Annapolis, Md.; a brother, James Green and his wife, Patsy of Florida; and six great grandchildren with one on the way.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, Del., where a funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Del.
