Dixie C. Betts, 82
MILTON - Dixie C. Betts passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 8, 2021.
Dixie was born in Milford, daughter of the late Roy and Beatrice (Miller) Hayt. Dixie worked as a machine operator for 28 years with Atlantis Plastics and retired several years ago.
As a young child, Dixie travelled with her family to Spence's Bazaar where she began her lifelong enjoyment of sales and antiques. She loved cleaning, refurbishing and selling old furniture at her booth and was known to her customers as "Miss Dixie". In addition to her love of antiques and home furnishing, she especially enjoyed working in her flower beds.
Also having a love for the community of Milton, Dixie volunteered her time and was a life member of the Milton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents; Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Betts, in 2015.
She is survived by her cat, Rascal; three sons, Skip Betts (Kristi), Chris Betts (Cheryl), and Kevin Betts (Gladys); 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a nephew, Gregory Hayt.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, Del. A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Henlopen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Season's Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713.
