SMYRNA - Diane Kay Cahall, 52, of Smyrna, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, with her loving and devoted family by her side. Born on January 19, 1959 in Dover, she was the daughter of Charles Lloyd and Virginia "Ginger" (Wooleyhan) Jones. She graduated from Queen Annes County High School in June of 1977 where she devoted her studies to the nursing profession. Prior to graduation, she passed her LPN state board exam, beginning her lifelong career in nursing first at Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital, now Chester River Hospital Center in Chestertown, where she worked for nine years. She later worked with Dr. Vincenta Marquez in Smyrna and for the past four years enjoyed working at Central Delaware Endoscopy in Dover. On August 6, 1977, she married the love of her life, Ralph "Steven" Cahall and together they raised two wonderful sons. Diane enjoyed the outdoors, especially going to the beach with her family and camping. As a devoted mother, she faithfully attended all of her son's activities and was a team mom for both little league and soccer, a co-class adviser for the Class of 2003 at Smyrna High School and was always involved with the Smyrna-Clayton PTO. Diane also enjoyed being a member of the Downs Chapel Ladies Aid and the Mardel Camping Club. A family oriented individual, she loved spending quality time with her family, especially her two sons and her grandchildren. Those that were blessed to know Diane, will miss her beautiful smile, warm heart and the kindness she so often shared with others. In addition to her parents, Diane is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Steve; two devoted sons, Nick and his wife, Janice, of Edgewater, Md. and Scott and his fiancée, Jessica, of Clayton; a special granddaughter, Reagan; a loving grandson, Brenden; a grandchild due in August; a sister, Sharon Lockwood and her husband, Mark, of Marydel; two brothers, Glenn Jones and his wife, Cindy, of Marydel and David Jones of Sudlersville, Md; her mother-in-law, Helen Cahall, of Townsend; her very special dog who she loved dearly, Dixie, as well as many dear nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
