MILLSBORO - Mr. Denver Lee Wootten passed away on Wednesday, Apr. 12, 2017, in the comfort of his home and his family.
He was born in Whitesville, on Aug. 2, 1931, to the late Herman and Carrie Scott Wootten. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Linford Wootten; and a sister, Hilda Smith.
He was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran. He retired from C. C. Oliphant & Son Roofing, where he worked for over 30 years. He was devoted to his wife and wherever she was, he was too. He enjoyed hunting deer and rabbits, as well as fishing. He also enjoyed horses and loved watching John Wayne movies. He had a wonderful personality, never cross, calm, kind and never raised his voice.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen Parsons Wootten, of Millsboro; a son, Stephen Denver Wootten and his wife, Leslie, of Laurel; sister, Nettie Ellingsworth, of Georgetown; sister-in-law, Pat Lathbury and her husband, Jerry, of Frankford; niece, Stacey Grez and her husband, Nick, and their daughter, Keelie Grez. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Sarah, Laura and Allison; as well as four great-grandchildren, Finn, Kael, Sawyer and Saylor.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Apr. 18, 2017, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m., for a time of viewing and visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
