
SMYRNA - Deloris I. Loy passed away on Jan. 20, 2018.
She was born in Brown, W.Va. on Oct. 8, 1936, the daughter of the late Ralph and Sarah Robinson Loy. She formerly resided in West Virginia, Ohio, and Virginia.
Deloris was a graduate of Salem College in Salem, W.Va.; Salisbury State College, Salisbury, Md.; and took classes at several other colleges. She was a school teacher for over 37 years, 30 of which were at Smyrna Elementary School.
She was a 35-year member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna, where she taught Sunday School, coordinated Asbury's Radio Ministry; and assisted with outreach dinners. She was also a member of the Dover Century Club; attended the Modern Maturity Center; was a volunteer visitor for seven nursing homes; and served on the Board of Regents for Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, John and Darrell Loy; and a sister, Betty Loy Earnest.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy I. Loy, of Smyrna; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Loy and Lois Loy; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be 12 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 20 W. Mt. Vernon St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
