MSgt. Delmont Miller DOVER - MSgt. Delmont Miller of Dover, formerly of Berea, Ky., departed this life Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 73. He was born January 5, 1937 in Richmond, Ky. to the late William H. Miller and Pattie Banks Miller. He entered the USAF, November 1955 and was honorably discharged in October 1981 after 26 years of proud and dedicated service to our Country, receiving numerous commendation medals. After retiring, he was employed at DCC (James T. Vaughn Correctional Center) in Smyrna, Delaware from 1982-1999. He was a member of Emmanuel AME Church in Hartly, Delaware. He was preceded in death by a son, Ernest E. Griffin, Jr.; and a daughter, Brenda S. Griffin. He leaves to cherish his sweet memories, his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Jean E. Miller; one granddaughter, Shamika Griffin; two great granddaughters, Ciara Griffin and Zariah Long of Dover; and one step-daughter, Gloria Harris Potts of Dover. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday evening May 21st at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division Street, Dover, Delaware. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel AME Church, 1755 Lockwood Chapel Road, Hartly, Delaware, with a viewing two hours prior. Interment will be Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware. Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, Delaware.
