GEORGETOWN - Della G. Mellington, 75, of Georgetown, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Season Hospice, Christiana. She is the daughter of the late Lewis Smith and Elza Stollings Smith. Her husband, James O. Mellington preceded her in death in 2001. She worked for the Washington DC Transit system as a secretary and handled payroll. She enjoyed flea markets and yard sales and helping her sister, May with the bake sales at Grace UM Church. She is survived by her son, Timothy Smith and wife Susan; three step children, Ronald and Karen Mellington, Susan Garcia and husband Noel; one sister, May Tarr; and very dear friends, Peggy and Kevin Dougherty; five grandchildren, Mat Mellington, Jeremy Kincheloe, Cindy Miller, Daniel Davidson, Bobby Isaacs; and three great grandchildren, Kelly Marie and Katie Nichole Kincheloe and Conner Chase Mellington. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, August 4, 2014 in the Chapel of Short Funeral Services 609 East Market Street, Georgetown, DE 19947, where friends may call for visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be St. Peters Cemetery, Lewes.
