Dean Fraley, 60

NEW PRESTON, Conn. - Dean Fraley of New Preston, formerly of Smyrna, Del., passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at his home. He was 60.

Dean graduated from Smyrna High School in 1966.

After traveling extensively with Sun Oil Co., he settled in Connecticut.

Dean was the owner and proprietor of Dean and Daughter Sporting Goods Store, and Green Acres Lawn Service, in Marbledale.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Dean was known for his shooting skills, winning several competitions.

He also believed in conservation, and was a longtime member of Ducks Unlimited, serving as the Ousatonic Chapter president, and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Dean will be remembered for his love of his family, friends, nature and his wonderful sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Clarence Fraley; and his step-father, John P. Hession.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Kristin Fraley Meissner, Shane Fraley, Erin Fraley, Luke Fraley; his grandchildren, Connor Meissner and Kori Meissner; his mother, Bessie I. Hession of Smyrna; his sisters, Florence Asbury, Sadie MacLeish, Carol Fraley, Patricia Smith, of Smyrna, Tina Hession, of Dover, Del., and Bonnie Campbell of Florida.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, in Washington, Conn.

A celebration of his life will be held at Warren Woods on Sunday.
