David S. Burlew, 67

HARRINGTON - David S. Burlew, of Harrington, died April 21, 2009, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 67. He was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Washington, D.C., to the late John S. and Grace A. Burlew. David was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard for four years after which he became an Auxiliary member. He was employed as an Internal Auditor for Consolidated Freight-Ways trucking. Mr. Burlew belonged to the Brotherhood of St. Andrews. He was very involved in Christ Church in Milford where he served on the Vestry Board as well as other special projects for the church. Mr. Burlew was a very devoted husband and father to his children. He enjoyed spoiling his grandson when he came to visit. He loved taking trips with his wife Pat, especially to Rehoboth Beach to walk the boardwalk. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his loving wife. Patricia G. Burlew of Harrington; sons, Jeff Burlew and wife Tonya of Oregan City, Ore., Adam Burlew of Harrington, and Jason Burlew of Harrington; brother, Thomas Burlew of Wisconsin; and grandson, Tyler Burlew of Oregon City, Ore. Services and interment will be private. Contributions can be made to Christ Church, 200 North Church Street, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
