TOWNSEND - David Robert Anderson Sr., Esquire, of Townsend, formerly of Hockessin, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007, in his residence. He was 56.
Born Aug. 14, 1950, in New Castle, Mr. Anderson was the son of Irene M. and Duncan C. Anderson Sr.
He was a graduate from Davis and Elkins College, as well as Widener University School of Law. Upon graduating from law school, he opened his own law practice in Townsend.
Mr. Anderson was a lifelong resident of New Castle County. He worked for the Wilmington Police Department for more than 12 years, retiring at the rank of sergeant. He then served as the magistrate justice of the peace in New Castle County.
He enjoyed working on his farm, raising beef cattle and attending the Delaware State Fair. He was an avid Flyers fan.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the Wilmington Fraternal Order of Police, Delaware State Bar Association and Delaware Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Duncan C. Anderson II; and an aunt, Mildred A. Morrison.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ana R. (Conde) Anderson; two sons, David R. Anderson Jr. and Ryan M. Anderson; two daughters, Elizabeth L. Patrick and her husband Bruce, and Sara R. Anderson; a sister, Peggy Gibson and her husband Joseph; an uncle, Robert N. Morrison; two nephews, Duncan C. Anderson III and Tyler R. Anderson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter J. and Priscilla F. Conde; as well as many dear friends.
David will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to know him.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service, as well as on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Townsend Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Anderson requested that memorial contributions be made in honor of his son, David R. Anderson Jr., to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Delaware Chapter, Two Mill Road, Suite 106, Wilmington, DE 19806.
