David Neil Ottinger Jr.

ELKTON, Md./MIDDLETOWN, Del. - David Neil passed away on March 13, 2014 in Elkton, Md. after a lengthy illness. David Neil was a 1978 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School; Served in the Navy, 1979-1985 as a photographer on the USS Saratoga .CV 80; Postal Service Worker at Middletown from 1995 to 2013; growing up Neil had a paper route in Dover, was an Altar boy and sang with the DAFB church choir. He loved good beer, good food and telling a joke. David Neil was a devoted Redskins fan and enjoyed photography. David Neil was affectionately known as Newfi to his friends due to his love of St. Johns Newfoundland, Canada, his mother's homeland. He has many loving relatives there, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased in death by his grandmother, Anne Kean of St. Johns Newfoundland; his father, David Neil Ottinger, Sr., (USAF 27 years); and his mother, Marguerite Ottinger. David Neil is survived by seven siblings; Mary Ottinger (Steve) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dennis Ottinger of Lafayette, Ind., Susan Ottinger (Raymond) of Citra, Fla., Walter Ottinger (Maria) of Wyoming, Del., Anthony Ottinger of Toronto, Canada, George Ottinger (Joyce) of Dover, Leona Ottinger of Harrington; along with 21 nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date and friends will be notified. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Fund, or other Veterans Support Services.
