GREENWOOD - David E. Troyer Sr., formerly of Greenwood, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 in Georgetown. He was 95. David was born January 31, 1918 in Kansas to the late Emanuel E. and Katie Troyer. He graduated from Eastern Mennonite College (now University) and he and his wife served as missionaries in Japan in the 1950's. After retiring from work as a carpenter, David did volunteer work for a Christian summer camp in Virginia and a missionary retirement center in Florida before moving to Greenwood. They were members of Tressler Mennonite Church in Greenwood, and David and his wife supported mission work throughout their lives. David was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, G. Beulah Troyer. He is survived by four children, David E. Troyer Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev., Jonathan Troyer of Roseville, Calif., Joyce Cain of Bogota, Colombia, and Philip Troyer of Lincoln, Del.; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Martha Yoder of Seaford and Edna Kramer of Greenwood; and two brothers, Paul Troyer of Marshallville, Ohio and Emanuel Troyer Jr of Blountstown, Fla. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at Tressler Mennonite Church, 13371 Wolf Rd, Greenwood, DE 19950. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at adjoining cemetery. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
