Daryl Francis Schoen

DOVER - Daryl Francis Schoen, of Dover, died suddenly Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Kent General Hospital. He was 73. Mr. Schoen was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Clara City, Minn., to the late Harry Schoen and Blanche Dondelinger Schoen. He served two years in the United States Navy and then served 20 years in the United States Air Force. After the military he worked for the Tampa Florida Postal Service as a carrier for many years. Mr. Schoen was a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover for the last two years, he was also a member of the Elks Lodge #1903 in Dover, American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed world traveling, visiting pubs and making new friends. Mr. Schoen is survived by his daughter, Denise K. Schoen with whom he lived; former wife, Virginia Schoen of Glen Bernie, Md.; sisters, Agnes Dannen of Clara City, Minn., and Phyllis Ingstrom of Deltona, Fla.; brother, Duane Schoen of Ariz.; six nieces and three nephews and his "special friend" his dog, Tara. Memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Monday Jan. 10, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
