PHILADELPHIA - Daniel Waddell Rodgers of Philadelphia died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2007, in Kindred Hospital of Delaware County. He was 83.
He was born April 20, 1924, in Virginia to Beulah Cumbo and James Tillery.
Mr. Rodgers was raised in Philadelphia where he graduated from Northeast High School.
He served his country during World War II on aircraft carriers in the Pacific.
Upon his return, he worked for the U.S. Post Office, retiring after 47 years in the early 1990s.
Mr. Rodgers married Rhoda Savoy in 1953 and the couple had two daughters, Andrea and Cheryl and resided in West Philadelphia.
He was an active member of the Deliverance Evangelistc Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and a half-brother, James Tillery.
He is survived by three daughters, Andrea and Cheryl of West Philadelphia and Linda Gustoff of Smyrna, Del.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 6376 City Avenue, Philadelphia, where friends may call one hour prior.
Interment will be in West Laurel Himm Cemetery, Bala Cynwd, Pa.
