Daniel 'Benny' Sterling Benchoff, 64

GREENSBORO, Md. - Daniel "Benny" Sterling Benchoff, of Greensboro, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in Memorial Hospital in Easton. He was born Dec. 16, 1944 in Waynesboro, Pa., son to Mary G. Burkett Benchoff of Greensboro and the late Paul S. Benchoff. Mr. Benchoff was a 1963 graduate of Greenwood High in Greenwood, Del. He went on to attend Delaware Tech, Georgetown Campus. He was a Staff Sergeant in the National Guard for 20 years from 1963 to 1983. He has previously worked at DuPont in Seaford, Del., Getty Oil, Thermolink and Cox Oil. He has worked with his brother since 1979 repairing Volkswagens. He enjoyed Volkswagen shows, stock car racing and spending time with friends. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his four brothers, Bill Benchoff and wife Lana of Georgetown, Del., Jim Benchoff and wife Helen of Denton, Steve Benchoff of Greensboro, and Michael Benchoff of Nome, Alaska; sister, Diana K. Hughes and husband Gene of Felton, Del.; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 800 E.
