Cynthia Yvonne Kilgo, 66

SEAFORD - Cynthia Yvonne Kilgo of Seaford passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 66.

Ms. Kilgo was born Nov. 16, 1940, in Seaford, daughter of the late Carlton A. and Eliza Hughes, her stepfather and mother, and her father, Charles Brittingham Sr.

Cynthia received her education at Jason and James H. Groves High School, Delaware Technical & Community College.

She was employed by Sussex County Board of Elections, Seaford School District (Katie L. Handy) and Indian River School District (Howard T. Ennis), where she retired in 2000.

Cynthia was loved by her family and others very deeply. She was a very loving and caring person who was dedicated in whatever she was involved.

She attended (Greater) Mount Calvary AME Church at an early age. She served on various committees and became a member of the homecoming choir.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester "Sonny" Kilgo; her son, Carlton Hughes Sr.; and a great-grandson, Layman Horsey.

She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Thomas Hughes (Debbie), Kevin Gibbs (Melissa), and Adrian Gibbs; two daughters, Sonya Whitney and Kimberly Gibbs; three brothers, Charles Brittingham Jr., Kenneth Hughes and Daryl Brittingham; three sisters, Valerie Brittingham, Karen Brittingham and Charlene Brittingham; seven grandchildren, Carlotta Hughes, Carlton Hughes Jr., Monica Whitney, Zandra Whitney, Adrian Whitney Jr., Andrew Banks and Elijuah Gibbs; six great-grandchildren, Kadeem Hughes, Kamyria Palmer, A'Riyonne Palmer, Quadyr Whitney, Tashawn Horsey and Cardiere Hughes; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Hughes; seven stepchildren, Iris Cannon, Melissa Smith, Teresa Bracey, Dawn Cannon, Karen Doakes, Nathaniel Beulah and Butch Kilgo; two sisters-in-law, Shirlene Mason and Mary Taylor; two brothers-in-law, Fred Kilgo and James Kilgo; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday in Mount Calvary AME Church, Seaford. A viewing will be held two hours prior to service.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Seaford.
