SMYRNA - Connie G. "Nanny" (Moody) Nabb of Smyrna passed peacefully to be with her Lord Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, after a long illness, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89.
Mrs. Nabb was born May 1, 1918, near Mountain City, Tenn., daughter of the late Elijah and Matilda (Church) Moody.
She worked 17 years at the Zenith Meat Packing Co., Wilmington, followed by 12 years in nursing, retiring from Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, where she also served as a union representative.
Over the years, Mrs. Nabb had been a member of several local churches, serving a host of missionaries and ministers through her years of service to her Lord.
She was definitely known and loved for her hospitality and marvelous "down home country cooking."
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nabb was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Nabb, in 2001; a sister and brother-in-law, Garrison and Flossie Garland; four nephews, Dewey, Sanford, Barton and W.H. Garland; and her first cousin/best friend, Bonnie Reynolds.
She leaves to cherish her memories five children, Ralph Danner of Butler, Tenn., James Danner of New Castle, Truman "Danny" Danner of Omaha, Neb., Margaret Kuhlman of Phoenix, Ariz., Martha Louise Joseph of Townsend and an "adopted son," Jim Franklin of Blackbird; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and great-great-granddaughter; her only niece, Mae Robinson; and numerous great-nieces and nephews of Tennessee.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Chaplain Raymond Taylor will officiate.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, DuPont Parkway, Smyrna.
Instead of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Praise Assembly Church, 1421 Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE, 19711; the Mamie Warren Center, 1775 Wheatley"s Pond Road, Clayton, DE 19938; and/or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Parkway, Dover, DE 19901.
