HARTLY -Clinton Douglas Adams, 84, Chief Master Sergeant, United States Air Force (Retired), died on Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home in Hartly. He was born in Georgetown, in 1931, one of 12 children born to John Ernest and Bertha Morris Adams. He joined the Air Force at the age of 16. He proudly served in the Air Force for 23 years and earned the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He met and married his wife, Dorna, while in Massachusetts. He, Dorna and their three children traveled the world; living in Japan, Guam, and Canada before settling in Milford Neck. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he owned and operated gas stations in Dover and Milford while going to college to obtain an Accounting degree. After receiving his degree, he worked as a Federal auditor and then as a State auditor before retiring in 1997. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and a life member and past President of the South Bowers Fire Company. He was predeceased by his wife of thirty-nine years, Dorna King Adams. He is survived by his companion of twenty-five years, Louise Stover. He and Louise enjoyed traveling and shared good times and adventures traveling in their motor home all over the country. He is survived by his three children, David (Deborah) Adams and Cheryl Adams Hollis from Milford and Tom (Teresa Moore) Adams from Georgetown. He is survived by his seven grandchildren, Harvey Adams, Becky Adams, Adam Hollis, Alex Hollis, Amy Hollis, Ashley Adams and Ryan Adams; and his three great-grandchildren, Riley Hollis, Mackenzie Hollis, and Austin Hollis. He is also survived by Louise's children, Bruce (Debra) Stover, Brian Stover and Brenda (Joseph) Dorsey and their families. He is survived by two brothers, Calvin Adams, Dale (Mae) Adams; and two sisters, Martha Landon and Grace Byrd; and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at Short's Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St. Georgetown, DE 19947. Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to South Bowers Fire Company, Station 57, P.O. Box 314, Milford, DE 19963.
